short ritings from the mountains
high on the mountain
deep in the woods
peace frozen as the leaves
a flurry of snow falls
even as the leaves
rest in their peaceful sleep
butterflies lingering
over sweetness of color
adding life to flight
sunrise breaks on
silent sleeping flowers
turning to meet the day
sunset falls folding
petals hiding brightness
descending long darkness
flood water softly
caresses stones as a
maiden brushes her hair
spring rain quenches
the thirst of newborn
forest branches
the shades of mist
distance themselves
from our dark inner being
red as a poppy
bleeding love into
the heart of my life
dew christened wings
reach for the power of light
until life leaves forever
aging flesh slows
longing for solace
in a soft dark space
a single lonely cloud floats
in a sea of setting sun
reflecting upon itself
sunlight avoids the dark
floor of ancient hemlock
draping shades of death
stones of the ancient lake
form a cold resting place
for the dust of long dead
the small chipmunk with
the short tail greets the
late riser with a smile
two red squirrels converse
heatedly over a breakfast
of sunflower seeds
through the years
the dark window watches
longing for someone
rain high above the lake
drowning the beaver dam
water falls willingly
view from the bridge
wet rocks reflections
a golden club waves
a place for all seasons
warm wet cold ice
a tree steps into the lake
blue sky pink streams
black trees ride reflecting
blue lake pink streams
the oak tree swims
in early morning fog
silently moving
the happy faces
turn to the sunlight
smiling brightly
day falls to death
heads slowly turn
a drink of last light
a flurry of snow falls
even as the leaves
turn their skin into fire
aging flesh slows losing
functions searching for
solace in a soft dark space
cold flat gray sky above frozen
silver mirrored water reflecting
horizon trees fading into mist
frigid white softness falls
slowly highlights the woods
hiding the darkness of man
an arc of wings flying
in the leaden sky calling
toward the warmth of sun
one lonely white cloud
floats in a sea of sky
over a lake of blue ripples
a last red leaf hangs softly
by a strand of web in the center
of a bright golden afternoon
full cold moon rising on
purple ice naked skeleton
of trees black on glowing circle
full blue moon rises on
purple ice naked trees
black on glowing circle
the old house many lives
lived within twisting turning
out the final life
in the forest cold and dim
the quietness reflects peace
heard not on this earth
a glass of wine
cares of the world vanish
so do i
the end of spring
cherry trees shed pink streets
blossoms fall as colorful rain
in the spring the winter river
offers up a young man's
black and blue carcass
long darkness snakes
across frozen white water
the crocus breaks snow
darkness nears
tears run
perfect day
as the darkness nears
i have a heavy heart
the tears run
for no reason
except for a perfect day
the stream of piss
flowing from my body
was once wine for the soul
the wind on the mountain
whipping the forest into a frenzy
laying the elder trees to rest
having lighted rooms
inside my head
i open the window of life
light & life both fleeting
lingering before the world
a pure and endless ring
sunrise breaks on
silent sleeping flowers
turning to meet the day
refreshing golden light
streams through
the window of life
rising fresh light
streams through
the window of life
the flight
of light
& life
the noisy lovemaking
of the morning doves
crashes the silence of the pines
the rain leaps
out of the dark clouds
falling
with a sound and rhythm of purpose
to become as one with the river
flowing swiftly
to marry with the sea
